Prepare your Rock Moss If you are using the whole leaf dried rock moss, dulse or bladderwrack (or any other sea vegatables), it will need to be hydrated before use. Place moss (or sea vegetable of choice) in a bowl of water for 15- 20 minutes to rinse out any sand that may be in the moss. I often will leave the moss in the water overnight in the refrigerator to get it really hydrated. Then drain the water, place the moss in your blender and blend to a gel. This gel can be refrigerated in a sealed jar for up to 3 weeks or frozen for longer. The Rock Moss gel can be used in smoothies, or any other recipes as the flavor is neutral.
Raw dried New England Rock Moss
When you received your moss it has been washed, dried and packaged. As rock moss grows on rocks in the ocean, it is important to rinse the moss again to clear it before use.
|
Place in a bowl of water
It is important to hydrate your dried moss before you use it. Rock Moss expands up to 6 times in water and to make it bendable should be hydrated.
|
Blend hydrated Rock Moss to a gel
If using to store or make other recipes, add the hydrated moss to your blender & blend moss into a gel. This rock moss gel can be refrigerated for up to 4 weeks or can be frozen into cubes.
|
Hydrated Rock Moss
Some uses for hydrated Rock Moss. For smoothies, hydrated moss can be added directly to the blender for use in a smoothie or soup.
- Add into smoothies - Blend in with soups This is GREAT for your skin. Take a piece of hydrated Rock Moss & apply to your skin - I use it as a mask. There will be a light film on your skin which nourishes it. Leave on for 20 minutes, then rinse! |
Frozen Rock Moss cubes
To be stored and used for a later date in soups and other recipes, pour hydrated & blended moss into an ice cube tray and freeze.
Add one Rock Moss cube to your smoothie for extra nutrition. Also, if you made too much gel, this is a great way to save the extra for later. |
ROCK MOSS gel
Rock Moss gel.
Use in making soups, smoothies, pies, pudding, ice cream, beer, baked goods and more. The rock moss gel works as a stabilizer in your recipes with added nutrition! |
Medical Medium Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie Recipe Ingredients:
Source: Medicalmedium.com
- 2 bananas
- 2 cups wild blueberries
- 1 cup cilantro
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 tsp barley grass juice powder
- 1 tsp spirulina
- 1 small handful of Atlantic Dulse
- Optional: water to blend

Dulse's nutritional value doesn't degrade after it's converted into powder or flakes.
Try dulse flakes sprinkled over scrambled eggs or popcorn, or mixed into your favorite vinaigrette dressings. |
The seaweed that tastes like bacon? That would be dulse!
GREAT for a BLT - just add tomato, lettuce and your bread and mayo of choice! Or sprinkle over salad or baked potatoes as healthy bacon bits! |
